~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Thank you to every person and firm who participated in our 2025 Design Awards program.  What an incredible representation of architecture and design.  The Celebration was a remarkable evening, too.  The venue, the food, the inspiring and entertaining remarks by Board President Ben Chaleff and MC’ing by Past President Edgar Papazian.  All of it was remarkable.  The complete list of Award recipients is below.  For more information and Juror comments, read the press release linked here
Looking ahead, AIA Peconic invites high school and college students pursuing architecture to apply to our 2025 Scholarship Program by May 9 (yes, that’s a deadline extension!).  We have multiple May events, too.  Scroll down for more info and registration links.
And final announcement for this newsletter: AIA Peconic is launching a new website within the next 24 hours!  (During this transition, our domain has been pointing the wrong way for a couple of days — our apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused.)
Future by Design: Re-thinking Processes of Making
for Healthier Futures
—————-
Tuesday, May 6 | 1:30 – 5pm
The Church | Sag Harbor, NY
———–
All are welcome to attend the thesis review of NYIT fifth-year architecture students which features Sag Harbor as its subject.  The studio takes a view of the region in the medium to long term and tries to solve current, exigent problems. Among other items, it considers community housing through smart density and alternative sites for building it, sea level rise, youth brain drain, issues related to the vehicle and our village centers, and directly confronts the recalcitrant forces that keep the region from having a focus on the future and reaching its potential.
