Ghent, NY — Art Omi is pleased to announce it is the recipient of an award from the Amazon Literary Partnership for its Art Omi: Writers program. The Partnership supports groups that are working to empower diverse, marginalized, and underrepresented voices, helping writers to create, publish, learn, teach, experiment, and thrive. In the 2022 funding cycle, the Partnership awarded more than $1 million to 74 literary nonprofits across the United States.
“We are thrilled to receive this award from the Amazon Literary Partnership,” said DW Gibson, Director of Art Omi: Writers. “Like Art Omi, the Partnership works to amplify a diversity of voices in the arena of the written word, and we are gratified to have their support in this important effort.”
Guided by the mission of having a lasting impact on the literary community, the Amazon Literary Partnership grants have supported more than 160 organizations with $15 million in grant funding since 2009. The grants have assisted tens of thousands of writers in telling their stories, amplifying their work, and finding their audiences.
Since its founding in 1992, Art Omi has hosted more than 2000 artists from over 140 countries in its five distinct residency programs (Art Omi: Architecture, Art Omi: Artists, Art Omi: Dance, Art Omi: Music, and Art Omi: Writers).
All five programs provide artists with room and board, workspace, and direct engagement with other artists and experts in their respective fields at no cost to the artist. Commemorating its thirtieth anniversary in 2022, Art Omi has grown into one of the premier venues for contemporary art in the upper Hudson Valley. A significant economic engine in Columbia County, the organization draws more than 45,000 visitors annually to its 120-acre Sculpture & Architecture Park.
Art Omi presents large-scale works in nature, as well as indoor exhibitions in a 1,500 square foot gallery.
