“As a young fiddler growing up on a ranch in Texas, books and birds were my most constant companions; while I dreamed about the big city, I developed a love of natural melody and dramatic arc that remains with me to this day. This new suite of original compositions, which I will be debuting for this concert, weave together my many musical influences with a storyteller’s aesthetic, while remaining rooted in the jazz idiom. These compositions represent my core commitment to melodicism, empathy, and world-building through composition and improvisation, kaleidoscopically refracted through the polychromatism of my life as a jazz musician in New York. My band, featuring Evan Main, Charlie Lincoln, and Eliza Salem, has been performing around New York for over two years, and I’m very excited about the sound we have crafted together, and the depth and imagination that they bring to my music. For this concert we will also be joined by the stellar Carrie Frey and Raffi Boden on strings,” says Minnie Jordan.

Minnie Jordan is a Berklee-trained violinist and composer whose work spans jazz, bluegrass, and American roots music — performing everywhere from Dizzy’s Club at Lincoln Center to the Kennedy Center to the Grey Fox Bluegrass Festival. A FreshGrass Award winner and two-time Next Jazz Legacy Award nominee, she has studied with John Patitucci, Danilo Perez, Terri Lyne Carrington, and Joe Lovano, and leads her own quartet and sextet on the New York scene.
