The Bridgehampton Museum is pleased to announce the opening of New Space, a solo exhibition by artist Jonathan Nash Glynn, on Saturday, October 11, from 7 to 9 PM. The reception will take place in our newly renovated Tractor Barn located at 2368 Montauk Highway, Bridgehampton, (directly across the street from The Candy Kitchen) offering the public an opportunity to engage with Glynn’s newest body of work.

“My newest works are large acrylic paintings inspired by the breathtaking images captured by the Hubble and Webb space telescopes,” says artist Jonathan Nash Glynn. “At the same time, I continue to explore my own inner space, searching for what art means to me.”

In celebration of the exhibition’s celestial themes, the opening will feature a special stargazing experience presented in partnership with the Hamptons Observatory (weather permitting). Guests are invited to bring their own telescopes and join astronomers in observing the night sky as an extension of the evening’s artistic exploration.

“I am thrilled to be partnering with both Jonathan and the Hamptons Observatory on this opening,” says Connor Flanagan, Executive Director of the Bridgehampton Museum. “We have spent a lot of time this summer with the help of our friends at Marder’s, Sperry Tents and Water Mill Building Supply along with some fantastic volunteers to build out this new space in our barn to showcase, New Space.”

New Space will be on view through October 26th. Admission to the reception is free and open to the public.

Spend an autumn evening surrounded by art and music at the Bridgehampton Museum. As part of our exhibition New Space, paintings by Jonathan Nash Glynn, we’re excited to welcome keyboardist and composer Mercer Shavelson for a live jazz performance in the galleries.

Mercer grew up on Long Island and has been immersed in music since childhood. Now based in Brooklyn, he’s performed everywhere from Smalls Jazz Club in Manhattan to the Bern Jazz Festival in Switzerland, and studied with jazz greats like Reggie Workman and Joanne Brackeen. His original music blends his deep jazz background with influences from his work in mindfulness and meditation, creating a sound that is both soulful and fresh.

Join us for this one-hour concert and enjoy an evening where art and music meet.
