[Patti LaBelle]Tanglewood is announcing a new event to take place during the 2022 season. On Sunday, September 4 at 7 p.m., Grammy Award-winning singer, songwriter, author, poet, and multi-instrumentalist Van Morrison performs for the first time at Tanglewood. Widely considered to be one of the most important living artists of our time, Van Morrison has albums that are ranked the greatest in the entire rock-and-roll canon. He has over 150 songs featured in major motion pictures, including his hits “Brown-Eyed Girl,” “Moondance,” “Wild Night” and “Gloria.”

Tickets for the Van Morrison concert, priced at $35-$189, go on sale Friday, April 1, at 10 a.m.

2022 TANGLEWOOD SEASON AND POPULAR ARTIST SERIES

[Andris Nelsons]The 2022 Tanglewood season, June 17-September 4, presents a wide range of programs that spotlight favorite returning artists and repertoire, while also introducing dynamic new artists and eclectic programming, with eight world and American premieres and 28 works by living composers, as well as 21 artists in their Tanglewood or BSO debuts. Nine programs are led by Boston Symphony Orchestra Music Director Andris Nelsons (right), including an Opening Night program of Bernstein’s Symphony No. 2 with piano soloist Jean-Yves Thibaudet and Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring (7/8); a concert performance of Mozart’s Don Giovanni (7/16); Brahms’ German Requiem with the Tanglewood Festival Chorus (7/17); and three programs showcasing Paul Lewis in all five Beethoven piano concertos (7/29-31). In addition to Tanglewood’s classical music offerings, the 2022 Tanglewood season includes Keith Lockhart leading the Boston Pops Orchestra in Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back (7/15) and a John Williams 90th Birthday Celebration (8/20) with conductor Ken-David Masur leading the orchestra and guest artists Yo-Yo Ma, Branford Marsalis, and James Taylor, among others, honoring one of Tanglewood’s most beloved figures.
