This year, the Cutchogue-New Suffolk Historical Council & Museums will be celebrating our opening day with an event and exhibition called “The Fabric of Time.” The event commemorates the donation of a colonial era barn loom from Pat and Bill Milford installed in our Red Barn, and the donation of a 1890s friendship quilt local to East Cutchogue and Skunk Lane from Sandy Midgley with detailed history and genealogy on each named square. Come see if you are connected- the following names appear on the quilt: Brush, Howell, Wells, Hand, Price, Horton, Tuthill, Billard, Baldwin, Richmond, Case, Mulford, Donahey, Glover, Penny. The quilt, our quilt collection, woven coverlets (many of which are over 200 years old), and white work sheets will be on display in an exhibit that will last from June to October in the Wickham House. The event is June 14 (rain date June 15) from 1-4. Cutchogue-New Suffolk Historical Council and Museums, Village Green, Main Road, and Cases Lane, Cutchogue, NY 11935. For more information, contact: CutchogueHistory@gmail.com. The event will be held at the back of the Green, in the Carriage house, Wickham House, Red Barn area. Entry is free.
