Tuesdays, 9:00 AM.   Maintenance Hikes (1 – 3 miles)

Weather permitting, EHTPS conducts weekly Tuesday morning maintenance hikes, preparing for other hikes on our schedule and keeping as much trail as possible clear and blazed. No experience necessary, and new volunteers are always welcome. Bring a lopper, trimmer, or handsaw if available. For information, ehtps@outlook.com to sign up for the weekly email.

Saturday February 7, 2026, at 10 AM.  Miller’s Ground Hike, East Hampton (5 miles)

Explore the Miller’s Ground woods, including Toyland, on this rambling hike through the high forested hills at Miller’s Ground, west of Route 114 and north of East Hampton Airport.  See if you can identify the Sleeping Lion.  Meet at 10:00 a.m. at the Northwest Path trailhead, East Hampton-Sag Harbor Turnpike (Route 114) just south of Edwards Hole Road.  Distance: ~5 Miles; moderate pace; hilly in places.  Bring snacks & liquids.  Info only, call or text Rick: (631) 275-8539. Thursday February 12, 2026, at 10 AM.  Affordable Housing in East Hampton Town: An EHTPS Members Only Event in Amagansett. (2+ miles)

East Hampton Town benefits from two active affordable housing providers. Join us for a walk to the grounds of two of their communities in Amagansett.  We hope to be joined by the leader of each organization for a brief overview of their respective mission, activities and communities. Meet at 10 AM at Atlantic Avenue beach parking lot, Amagansett, for the one-mile walk; an EH Town Parking Permit is required.   Expected duration 1 1/2- 2 hours.  Saturday February 14, 2026, at 10 AM.  Amsterdam State Park, Montauk (2.6+ miles)

Join us on Valentine’s Day for a lovely, diverse, short but rugged hike at Amsterdam State Park in Montauk. This popular hike is a scenic loop that takes us through a blend of coastal woodlands and bluffs, leading to a picturesque beach on the Atlantic Ocean. The trail itself meanders through American holly, oak trees, scrub oak and shad, among others. It also features vistas of “the moorlands.” Directions: Take Montauk Point State Boulevard (Route 27) and turn right (south) at the Amsterdam sign, across the road from the Deep Hollow Ranch sign. Distance: 2.6 miles plus any rocky beach walking we might do depending on participants’ interest. Time: 10:00-12:00. Leader: Amy Ruhle, 631-521-3602; amyruhle@optonline.net.

                      Sunday February 15, 2026, at 1 PM.  A Hero’s Welcome, Montauk (4 miles)

This is among the most beautiful oceanside hikes in all East Hampton.   We will follow the Point Woods Trail to gain a spectacular cliffside view, then track the coastline to enjoy additional viewpoints at varying elevations.  After culminating at a near-360-degree panorama, we will follow the Battery 113 trail through more forest and return to our starting point. All are welcome to relish Camp Hero’s beautiful woodlands, crumbling cliffs, shining sea, and mysterious military artifacts. Saturday February 21, 2026, at 10 AM.   Hither Woods, Montauk.  (5 miles)

Come along on a circuit hike through the interior of Montauk’s Hither Woods.  This is winter in the woods, in the center of the 3,000-acre Hither Woods wilderness.  Meet 10:00 a.m. at Hither Hills Overlook (West Overlook), on the north side of Route 27, Montauk.  Distance: ~5 miles, moderate pace with some hills.  Bring snacks & liquids.  Info only, call or text Rick: (631) 275-8539. Saturday February 28, 2026, at 10 AM.  Elizabeth Morton Wildlife Refuge, Sag Harbor (5 miles)

We will explore the entire Jessup’s Neck peninsula of the Elizabeth A. Morton National Wildlife Refuge with its exceptionally diverse habitats (including bay beaches, brackish and freshwater ponds, kettle holes, salt marshes and maritime oak/ red cedar forests). Bring water and a snack, and wear warm, wind-proof clothing. Location: refuge parking area at 2595 Noyac Road, Sag Harbor.  A small parking fee is charged.
