The group will work together like a band. Students will learn the basics of setting up equipment, understanding a PA system, learning to work a mic, harmonizing vocally, learning to play with other band members, learning to take solos, and get introduced to new genres of music. Groups of students will be directed by Nicholas Bavaro (drums) and John Tocco (guitar/bass). Both instructors not only have rock band performance experience, but  also have theater and classical experience. Themes are selected by the instructors, such as, Pink Floyd, The Beatles, Green Day, Women who Rock, The 90’s, The 80’s, Woodstock …etc. Rehearsals will be one and a half hours and be held once per week for 15 sessions. Students will work on mastering playing together as a band, timing, and most importantly, performance and stage presence. At the end of the sessions EEA will produce a performance that will exhibit the growth of each student.

STEAM – A Collaboration with the LI Science Center
Grades K – 12
—–
Wednesdays, beginning in October
—–
EEA’s new STEAM program is in collaboration with the Long Island Science Center. The program will be on Wednesdays and begins in October.
—–
The STEAM program consists of one hour classes per week focusing on art work by a Master in the arts, where EEA can instruct from a specific art piece, a scientific component; for example, Starry Night, by Van Gogh: the students will engage in a discussion about the elements of the universe. Afterwards they will create a work of art taking what they learned from the discussion in a creative way.
—–
The program is designed to provide students with a minimum of an art lesson, an art history lesson, and a science lesson in one hour. The process is designed to keep students engaged via VAKT method and maintain critical thinking for the duration of the lesson.
