Unity through Artistic Collaboration to

Celebrate Martin Luther King

Few people in history have had a positive impact on the ideals and momentum of people far and wide like Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. His charisma and conviction live on through his legacy, and may he continue to inspire future generations.

In 2021, EEA launched its first MLK Portrait Project with local high schools, and the Project has grown each year since. Students in each school create a large mosaic of the inspirational icon or other civil rights leaders comprised of 16 individual canvases. The 4’x4′ portraits are on display in each school until they come together for a gallery show at the East End Food Market, opening February 18th. This Project not only celebrates MLK’s influence through art but also brings together young artists for a collective creative good…as Dr. King would want it to be.

Join us for the unveiling of this year’s MLK Portrait Project works of civil rights leaders on Saturday, February 18th, 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the East End Food Market, and in the meantime, please enjoy this sampling of past portraits:
