SUPPORT The Preservation of History
——
Dear Friends,
——
As 2020 comes to close, we want to thank you for your essential support of the East Hampton Historical Society during these unprecedented times.
——
This year, as we all struggled through
a worldwide pandemic, the Society forged ahead to provide top-notch online and in-person programs for the community and beyond.
——
The Society offered a short run of the dynamic Smithsonian exhibition Water/Ways just prior to quarantine and quickly shifted to a digital format – providing mission driven programs such as Influential Women of East Hampton, Ask a Curator, Remember to Remember with Captain Cataletto, Create your Own Museum, and other adult and children’s programming.
——
During the months of remote work, we engaged over 10,000 people through our online efforts and made many new friends.
——
Returning to the office in July, we again had to be creative under state gathering restrictions to ensure the safety of our friends and staff. We held a virtual Antiques Show, an online auction through Doyle, and our Summer Lecture/Luncheon on Zoom with Tom Scheerer.
——
We also marked the 100th Anniversary of the 19th Amendment with an exhibit entitled, Votes for Women: A Portrait of Persistence and lit up our sites in gold and purple in recognition of this important moment in history. We also held timed house tours at the Moran Studio and Mulford Farm, created a program about the Hornbook on social media, and Amagansett Maritime Heritage Day went virtual.
——
Although we worked hard to continue to serve the public, this year has been difficult for us. Our key fundraising events like the Antiques Show and House & Garden Tour had to be canceled.
——
We, like so many other non-profits, rely on public support to continue our mission to preserve the history and culture of our community, and we need your help! Please consider supporting our Annual Appeal as we move into our centennial year of 2021 as YOUR historical Society.
——
Your generous donation goes toward preserving these important landmarks for future generations and ensures we can continue to offer an exceptional calendar of events and programs.
——
Thank you in advance for your support. Be well, and Happy Holidays!
