Tuesdays, 9:00 AM.   Maintenance Hikes (1 – 3 miles)

Weather permitting, EHTPS conducts weekly Tuesday morning maintenance hikes, preparing for other hikes on our schedule and keeping as much trail as possible clear and blazed. No experience necessary, and new volunteers are always welcome. Bring a lopper, trimmer, or handsaw if available. For information, ehtps@outlook.com to sign up for the weekly email.

Thursday, January 1, 2026, at 10 AM.  Hither Woods New Year’s Day Hike.  (7.5 miles)

For the 37th Consecutive Year hike the trails of the magnificent Hither Woods to ring in the New Year!  We will hike past Split Rock, the Devil’s Cradle, Ram Level, the Lost Boulder, and of course the spectacular coastline that is the northern boundary of Hither Woods.  Meet at 10:00 a.m. at Hither Hills Overlook (West Overlook), north side of Route 27, Montauk.  Distance: 7.5 miles, moderate pace with some hills. Saturday January 3, 2026, at 10 AM. Springs Woodblock & Nancy Kelley Preserve (4 miles)

Finish New Year’s week by hiking the woods and former fields of the Talmage Farm, in northern Springs.  We will hike from Three Mile Harbor Road to the salt marshes of Accabonac Creek, where we’ll visit the scenic Nancy Kelley Preserve and the Nature Conservancy’s Merrill Lake Sanctuary.  Meet 10:00 a.m. on east side of Three Mile Harbor Road about 100 yards north of Maidstone Market (which is opposite Flaggy Hole Road).  Distance: ~4 miles; flat; moderate pace; wet footing possible in the Accabonac Meadows so waterproof shoes are recommended.  Bring snacks & liquids.  Info only, call or text Rick: (631) 275-8539.  Email: richardwhalen@optonline.net

Saturday January 17, 2026, at 10 AM.  North Neck Trail, Montauk.  (3 miles)

Out & back hike on the North Neck Trail, one of Montauk’s newest trails.  We’ll pass Tupelo Stone and the enormous North Neck Oak on this lovely route.  Meet 10:00 a.m. at the Culloden Point historic marker, west side of Flamingo Avenue, about 400 feet north of Wills Point Road.  (Look for a red fire hydrant.)  Distance: 3 miles, moderate pace.  Bring liquids.  Info only, call or text Rick: (631) 275-8539. Monday January 26, 2026, at 10 AM.  Cedar Point County Park, East Hampton (2.5 miles)

Join us for an unusual Monday hike. It’s a counterclockwise circuit of Cedar Point County Park. We will head north on the Northwest Path (yellow triangle blazes), walk west along the tall bluffs overlooking Gardiner’s Bay, and then return south on the park road to our cars. The view from the bluffs is amazing. Meet 10 AM at the parking lot just inside the entrance to Cedar Point County Park. Bring water and dress for the weather.
