LOOKING BACK…

MEMBERS TREATED TO AN INSIDE LOOK AT THE FASCINATING ART OF TEXTILE DESIGN

On February 8, Visionary-level members and above gathered for a behind-the-scenes visit at the Pollack Design Studio in New York City, a sought-after ‘gem’ boutique textile company that works with mills worldwide. Guild Hall members enjoyed an intimate creativity-filled talk and tour with Vice President/Design Director Rachel Doriss, an enthusiastic talent, and visionary in the field. Rachel offered an inspiring inside look into the art of textile design and her creative process, and how a textile comes to brilliant life—from inspiration to a hand-drawn sketch, to color, texture, luster, fiber content, scale, and finished product. This access to art and artists beautifully epitomizes Guild Hall’s mission to bring art, artists, and people together and is just one example of the unique experiences and benefits of membership.

GUILD HALL AWARDED PRESTIGIOUS NYSCA

AND NEA GRANTS

We are thrilled to announce that Guild Hall has received three grant awards totaling $50,000 from the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA) to support the recovery of the nonprofit arts and culture sector. Following New York State’s historic investment for the arts, NYSCA has awarded $90 million since Spring 2022 to a record number of artists and organizations across the state. The funds will support Learning + Public Engagement programming and re-hiring of seasonal security and front-of-house staff.

Additionally, the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) has also approved a Grants for Arts Projects award of $20,000 to support Guild Hall’s Student Art Festival: Eco V Ego in-school residency programs. This is one of 1,251 Grants for Arts Projects awards totaling nearly $28.8 million, announced by the NEA as part of its first round of awards for the 2023 fiscal year.
