We are thrilled to announce the appointment of Nick Schwartz-Hall to the position of Director of Performing Arts following a comprehensive national search conducted over twelve months. A long-time champion of intercultural collaborations, Schwartz-Hall comes to Guild Hall with over three decades of experience creating and presenting at premiere U.S. and global venues and working with acclaimed artists. He most recently served as Senior Producer at The Music Center, Los Angeles, where, among other programs, he developed and presented the Summer SoundWaves outdoor concert series featuring Latin and African diaspora artists, established the Center’s Producing Department, oversaw the annual Glorya Kaufman Presents Dance season, and produced large-scale concerts including Max Richter’s SLEEPin Grand Park, and Joni 75, a birthday celebration of the music of Joni Mitchell.

Nick will begin his tenure in April 2023, in advance of our reopening and summer season.

2021 GUILD HALL ARTIST-IN-RESIDENCE

What are you working on now?

I am currently developing and working on a few projects I started at the residency. One of them is a large-scale installation that involves a used boat that I am turning into a conservatory for fine paintings. This project addresses immigration, the environment, nature preservation, and water channels. I am continuing my research on lighthouses, mainly on the North Fork, and believe that the lighthouse as an image will somehow also fit into this boat project.

I am very excited to continue to be a guest artist as part of the 2024 Student Art Festival: Eco vs. Ego, in which I will collaborate with Guild Hall staff, my paired teacher, and students from Amagansett School…

GETTING TO KNOW GUILD HALL

What’s your name? Kristin Eberstadt

Where are you from? That’s always a tricky question for me. I’m half Egyptian, half American. I was born in Cairo and have lived in 9 different countries – “wherever I lay my hat, that’s my home,” I guess.

What’s your role at Guild Hall? Chief Philanthropy Officer

Where did you go to school and what did you study? I have a BA in International Relations from Sophia University in Tokyo and a Master of Science in Education from Long Island University. I also have a Professional Coaching Certificate from Baruch College Zicklin School of Business.

What’s your favorite Guild Hall program of all time? Hamptons Dance Project is a major highlight for me every year. The Missing Element was unforgettable too.

What’s your passion? Igniting and supporting the passion of others. Nothing makes me happier than to see people “alive” in their work and life. I also love to dance!
