WORKS ON LOAN

It gives us great pride to share our Permanent Collection with other institutions. Currently, there are ten photographs by Bernard Gotfryd, Hans Namuth, John Gruen, and Dorothy Norman on loan to the Nassau County Museum of Art for their exhibition The Big Picture: Photography’s Moment, which is on view now through March 5, 2023. Long Island Museum’s upcoming exhibition Creative Haven: Black Artists of Sag Harbor, on view from February 17 through August 27, 2023, will borrow five total works by Al Loving, Harlan Jackson, and Claude Lawrence. A painting by Adolph Gottlieb will be featured at the Pollock-Krasner House and Study Center in Creative Exchanges: Artists in Jackson Pollock and Lee Krasner’s Address Books from May 4 through July 30, 2023. We encourage you to visit these exhibitions.

GETTING TO KNOW GUILD HALL

What’s your name? Amy Steinhaus Kirwin

Where are you from? Los Angeles, CA

What’s your role at Guild Hall? Chief Creative Officer

Where did you go to school and what did you study? I have a BA in Theater & Film from the University of Kansas and completed two years of post-graduate study at Circle in the Square Theatre Conservatory in New York City.

What’s your favorite Guild Hall program of all time? This is like a Lay’s Potato Chip. You can’t pick just one! I would say Resistance Revival Chorus, 2020: An Evening of Short Plays, Stroman Presents! and of course Stirring the Pot with the incredible Florence Fabricant.

What’s your passion? My personal passion is animals. I can’t pass a dog on the street and not want to give it squishies. Professionally, nothing gives me greater pleasure than seeing our patrons enjoy the work we present. It’s an incredibly gratifying feeling.

LOOKING AHEAD…

Guild Hall Teen Arts Council kicks off its special programming later this month with a series of Open Mic Nights at The Clubhouse, where guests of all ages can sign-up to perform music, poetry, monologues, comedy, dance, and more. The first of five Open Mic Nights will occur on Saturday, January 28, from 6-7:30 PM and will be followed by a Silent Disco Dance Party from 7:30-11 PM. Come and share your talent, and stick around to dance into the night, ending with a (silent) bang!

LOOKING BACK…

We had a blast hitting the road in 2022 while commencing a Capital Improvements Project to bring our 1930s-era building into the future. While off-site, we experimented with an imaginative and bold approach to our programming and connected with many new audiences. It was an inspiring and gratifying year, to say the least.

This wrap-up video by Director of Digital Content Joe Brondo perfectly represents our electrifying season at 16 offsite locations, presenting a series of unforgettable programs and events.
