Ken Miller & Sherrilyn Ifill

Dear Friend,
We’re partnering with our friends at The Bridgehampton Child Care & Recreational Center to share critical talks on race and equality that took place in our John Drew Theater as part of The Center’s “Thinking Forward” lecture series. We begin today with the August 14, 2019 conversation with Sherrilyn Ifill, President and Director-Council of the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, and Ken Miller, Advisory Board Member of The Center.
“At least 10 years ago, we started a series of talks “Straight Talk, Real People” in the living room of our Admin Building at The Center. It was a safe place where we ALL could come together and speak openly about being Black in America. During these talks, deep and open conversations took place around racism, stereotypes, and inequalities. We soon outgrew the living room and today it is known as the “Thinking Forward Lecture Series: Equality Matters in the Hamptons.” With all the hatred, racism, brutality, inequities, and atrocities that Black People experience daily, the hard and difficult conversations must continue. What happened to George Floyd was a modern day lynching for all to see! The Band-aid has been completely ripped off! ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! Change has got to come!”
