The Photography Show presented by AIPAD

NEW YORKThe International Center of Photography will introduce the ICP Photobook Fest on May 21-22, 2022 at ICP’s new building on the Lower East Side located at 79 Essex Street, New York. Presented in partnership with The Photography Show presented by AIPAD, the event will feature leading and independent photobook publishers and photographers showcasing their latest image-based books, as well as online programming and in-person book signings.

The ICP Photobook Fest is part of a week of photography events including The Photography Show presented by AIPAD, which will be held May 19-22, with a VIP Preview May 19, at a new location at Center415 on Fifth Avenue at 37th Street.

“The 2022 ICP Photobook Fest will gather the photobook publishing community to celebrate and examine the lasting power of the photobook in our new state-of-the art museum and school on 79 Essex Street,” said David E. Little, executive director of ICP. “We look forward to partnering with AIPAD to be part of this exciting weekend honoring photography with a wide selection of prestigious photography book publishers as well as the next generation of emerging independent publishers. Photobooks are central to the history of photography and their unique ability speak about pressing issues of our time through carefully edited sequences of photographs from page to page is more important now than ever as we emerge from the isolation of Covid.”

Tickets to visit the ICP Photobook Fest will go on sale at a later date.

ICP invites photobook publishers to join the event by applying for a book display table and sales through the application process. More information can be found at icp.org/events/photobookfest.

International Center of Photography

The International Center of Photography (ICP) is the world’s leading institution dedicated to photography and visual culture. Cornell Capa founded ICP in 1974 to champion “concerned photography”—socially and politically minded images that can educate and change the world. Through exhibitions, education programs, community outreach, and public programs, ICP offers an open forum for dialogue about the power of the image. Since its inception, ICP has presented more than 700 exhibitions, provided thousands of classes, and hosted a wide variety of public programs. ICP launched its new integrated center on Manhattan’s Lower East Side in January 2020. Located at 79 Essex Street, ICP is the cultural anchor of Essex Crossing, one of the most highly anticipated and expansive mixed-use developments in New York City. ICP pays respect to the original stewards of this land, the Lenape people, and other indigenous communities. Visit icp.org to learn more about the museum and its programs.
