The Scholar-Artist program, now in its 15th year, signifies to parents, teachers, the community, and to prospective colleges that a student is an accomplished artist in their field and demonstrates superior academic excellence.

Long Island High Schools may nominate one current eleventh grade student with an unweighted average of 90 or higher in each of the following arts disciplines:
DANCE
MEDIA ARTS
MUSIC (INCLUDING COMPOSERS)
THEATRE (INCLUDING THEATRE TECH)
VISUAL ARTS
All applicants must be nominated by their high school, and applications must be submitted by a district administrator. Please pass this information along to your art, music, theater, media and dance teachers and faculty.

20 students will be chosen as LIAA Scholar-Artists, and up to 20 additional students may receive the Award of Merit. If you have never applied on behalf of your school district, we strongly encourage you to do so. We want to recognize as many talented students as possible from high schools across Long Island!

The LIAA Scholar-Artist Awards is proud to once again partner with Newsday on this program. Each month during the school year, Newsday creates in-paper and online profiles of each of the 20 Scholar-Artists. Current and past online profiles can be found by visiting: newsday- scholar-artists.
