The Museum Association of New York announces a new regrant partnership

MANY, with the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA) to distribute 100 grants of $5,000 to assist New York museums with capacity building.

Grants will be awarded for museums to respond to pandemic-related challenges, help build financial stability, strengthen board and community engagement, update technology, support leadership, and change systems to address diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and justice.

Guidelines will be available on the MANY website in January 2022 and the application portal will open in February with applications accepted through April and announcements made and funds distributed in May.

Preservation Long Island is the new steward of a group of important early American portraits from descendants of the Nelson and Lloyd families of Boston and Long Island. Explore the interwoven stories of the Lloyd family, the family of Jupiter Hammon, one of the first published African American authors, and chattel slavery in what would become the United States.

Curator Brad Kolodny documents the 125-year evolution of Judaism on Long Island in this showcase of images of Long Island synagogues.

America in Print: Prints, Lithographs, and Etchings from the SCHS Collection.

Featuring themes of nineteenth-century life in landscapes, cityscapes, ships, racehorses, scenes from literature, politics, Civil War battle scenes, and rare examples of “lithographic Long Island,” this exhibit captures the evolution of an American art form.

Silverbrook Art Glass Works (1943-1976)

Fleeing their native Czechoslovakia in 1937 in fear of a Hitler invasion, the Kreutz brothers established a glassworks company on Flanders Road in Riverhead. Come witness over 30 years of hand-blown glassware made by these fifth-generation glassblowers in our History in the Hall display cases.

Open Wednesday through Saturday, 10:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
