Curator’s Book Talk

Join us for a Zoom lecture on The Long Road to Freedom: Surviving Slavery on Long Island, by former LIM curator and author of The Long Road to Freedom exhibition catalog, Jonathan M. Olly, Ph.D. The book focuses on the experiences of people of color from the 17th to 19th centuries and explores how slavery operated, how African Americans resisted bondage, navigated the era of emancipation, and built communities from Brooklyn to the Hamptons.

Philip Grausman‘s Eileen and Victoria (1999-2000) will call the LIM home for a two year loan.

His work has been exhibited around the country, including at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the National Portrait Gallery, and now the Long Island Museum!

A very BIG thank you to Budco Enterprises, Inc., our Curatorial Team, and everyone else involved in this exciting new transition.

You can visit these impressive sculptures and others on our gorgeous 9-acre campus Thursdays through Sundays, from 12pm – 5pm.
