LongHouse Illuminated a Magical Winter Experience featuring ZIMA!
LongHouse Reserve Chairman, Louis Bradbury, welcomed over 1000 guests to the annual LongHouse Illuminated on its opening weekend. An evening program with holiday lighting placed throughout the garden, including on Buckminster Fuller’s Fly’s Eye Dome, and immersive theater, It continues Fridays and Saturdays through January 3.
Making its return was ZIMA!, LongHouse’s annual theatrical adventure presented by the Neo-Political Cowgirls. Guests were encouraged to explore the gardens, searching for whimsical vignettes of dance, theater, and folklore, before being led to a cozy holiday market featuring local vendors, seasonal goods, and craft activities for children led by Shine Studio.
Upcoming LongHouse Illuminated dates continue on Fridays and Saturdays through January 3, with reserved entry times available between 4:30–7:30 PM. The holiday market, curated by Sunshine, remains open through December 20. For more information, please visit: https://longhouse.org/

LongHouse Reserve is a 16-acre integrated environment in East Hampton created by artist, collector, and textile designer Jack Lenor Larsen (1927–2020), who developed the site as a case study in creative living. Acquiring the property in 1975, Larsen established its defining features—including the cryptomeria-lined entrance drive, preserved native canopy, long low berms recalling historic farm boundaries, and distinct garden rooms for plant collections and sculpture. Today the sculpture garden holds more than 60 outdoor works and is fully open to the public for education and enjoyment, with plans underway to activate Larsen’s modernist house—designed with architect Charles Forberg and inspired by the 7th-century Shinto shrine at Ise, Japan—to display his extensive craft and design collections.
