What an exciting year we have had! With support from friends like you we have been able to make great strides, from the new Welcome Center to programming, such as our Local Flavors winter lecture series with local chefs and farmers, and Watercolor Workshops in the Garden with Melinda Hackett.

People often ask how we do it. “How many gardeners do you have to take care of all of this?” or ” or more directly, “How do you pay for all of this beauty?” These are important questions, and the answers are equally straightforward, “Two or three gardeners for a day a week—(not enough!),” and “We raise the money to run Madoo each and every year as we don’t have an endowment.” The Annual Appeal is our largest fundraiser of the year covering mundane expenses from insurance and fuel to the esoteric purchase of heirloom roses for the garden.

Images of Robert Dash paintings were the basis for John Derian & Company-made decoupage trays and paperweights, and the finest needlepoint kits from Appleton’s. And, of course we have our Madoo-branded gardening tools from Sneeboer and garden snips, saws, and kanzen fron Niwaki.
