MONTAUK SWIM CHALLENGE STARTS JULY 24TH!
Registration is open for our virtual Montauk Swim Challenge fundraiser (July 24–31). Swimmers of all ages can participate by swimming a set distance (1/2 mi., 1 mi., 5K), lining up personal sponsors, and logging their results online. To register as a swimmer, click here. Gift certificate prizes will be awarded to the top finishers in each category! We’re currently seeking corporate and individual event sponsors, to learn more, click here. MONTAUK PLAYHOUSE REOPENS
The Montauk Playhouse Community Center has reopened with the building’s regular schedule in place: weekdays closing at 9pm, Saturdays closing at 7pm, and Sundays closing at 5pm. The current Covid protocols which are in effect for the Town Clerk Annex in the Lobby will remain until further notice for the entire building: masks are no longer required for those fully vaccinated, those unvaccinated should continue to wear masks.

OCEANS INSTITUTE TALK
The manager of the Southampton Marine Center, Chris Paparo, will present a talk at the Montauk Oceans Institute at the Montauk Lighthouse on Tuesday, July 6 from 2-3pm, titled “From Plankton to Whales: Why Our Local Waters Are Worth Protecting.”

NEW BOOK ON MONTAUK SPORTFISHING
Bill Akin has published a new book, “The Golden Age of Montauk Sportfishing,” which features interviews with eight legendary Montauk fishing captains. The book includes a preface by Montauk Lighthouse keeper Joe Gaviola. The book is available in the Lighthouse Gift Shop and other spots around Montauk. MONTAUK TEEN WINS NATIONAL SURF TITLE
Congratulations to Montauk’s Noah Avallone, who placed first in June’s USA Surfing championships in the under-14 longboard category and third in the the national under-18s. CCOM’S TEEN BEACH CLEANUP: JULY 24
CCOM hosts their 3rd annual Teen Beach Cleanup on Saturday, July 24th from 9 am – 12 noon. Meet in the Ditch Plains parking lot — gloves, buckets, and bags will be provided. For more info, click here.

AQUATICS & CULTURAL ARTS
WATER SAFETY AWARENESS | As our local water temperatures warm, it’s important to review water safety measures and learn what steps to take in an emergency. Knowing how to both prevent and respond to potential water emergencies is vital for members of our coastal Montauk community. CONCERTS ON THE GREEN ARE BACK! | The Montauk Chamber’s series of free Monday night concerts on the village green are back this summer. Next up is tonight’s show, featuring “Steven Teulsky and His All Vaccinated Band,” beginning at 6:30 pm. Bring your own beach chairs and blankets for seating.

MONTAUK VACCINATION UPDATE
Individuals and businesses who would like to schedule Covid-19 vaccinations (J&J and Moderna) in Montauk should contact the Montauk Chamber via email (kay.tyler@montaukchamber.com) as soon as possible. Stony Brook Southampton Hospital will be able to schedule another Montauk-based clinic if there are enough takers.
