Think you’ve heard it all when it comes to Mashomack’s history? The Nature Conservancy and The Shelter Island History Museum are joining forces to celebrate 45 years of conservation at Mashomack. Come on an eye-opening truck tour through the woodlands, grasslands and wetlands and down to the Manor House to learn about pre-history to modern times.
The SIHM has delved through their maps and photos to supply rarely seen images to illustrate the history of the preserve. Visit key locations, see archival photos and hear conversations that reveal the lands story in a new way. The tour concludes with a SIHM period-appropriate exhibit at the Manor House which will bring the past to life! Light refreshments will be provided.
