Meet at the lighthouse, then climb 116 steps to the lantern room — all the while learning about the 261-year history of Harbor Light, one of the oldest lighthouses in the country, and the tallest on Long Island Sound. The views at the top are spectacular! Harbor Light visits take 40 minutes. Book a tour for up-to five people: click to sign up online, or email to schedule a custom tour during the week.
Tickets are $35, $30 for NLMS members, $25 youth through age 18.

And what about Race Rock? you might ask. Last year we received $100,000 from the Ludwick Family Foundation and also raised $20,000+ with a fundraiser on Fishers Island. It has been slow going to get permissions and bids, but the work now has begun! Last weekend Andy Champaign went out with the crew from Kennedy Marine to take soundings and examine the roving rocks discovered in the landing area at the lighthouse. They report the rocks are each the size of a refrigerator (watch their video)! They apparently came off the top and have not destabilized the jetty — good news.
Next up at Race: repair to the railing and masonry — all to be done this summer.
Our third project is repairs at Ledge Light (where $200,000 from grants is available). Grants and the National Park Service have procedures, which must be obeyed. It looks likely this work will not get going until 2024
