NFAC Presents Special Screening of
The Guy Who Got Cut Wrong
with Gary Shteyngart and Dana Ben-Ari
———————-
Greenport, NY — The North Fork Arts Center (NFAC) is proud to host a special screening of The Guy Who Got Cut Wrong, followed by a live conversation with award-winning novelist Gary Shteyngart and filmmaker Dana Ben-Ari.
Ben-Ari’s documentary invites audiences into Shteyngart’s singular, tragi-comic world as he revisits the trauma of his botched circumcision. The film explores themes of family, masculinity, cultural expectations, and the immigrant experience, challenging assumptions about bodies, identities, and the stories we inherit.
This event also celebrates Shteyngart’s acclaimed literary work, including his most recent novel, Vera, or Faith, a tale of family bonds under pressure in a rapidly changing America.

“The humor and honesty in this story reflect not only Gary’s experience but also our own complex relationships with family, culture, and the body,” said Tony Spiridakis, Executive Director at NFAC. “Bringing together Gary Shteyngart and Dana Ben-Ari for this screening and discussion reminds us how stories told through film and literature open hearts, challenge assumptions, and bring community together.”

Together, the film and book showcase Shteyngart’s remarkable ability to move seamlessly between sharp-edged humor and heartfelt tenderness.
——–
Following the screening, the audience will engage directly with both the author and director in a post-film conversation on the intersections of literature, cinema, and personal storytelling.
