Spring is here, and we’re excited to celebrate! In this edition of our newsletter, we’re sharing some of the most significant moments from this past winter, so you can be part of what we’re building, even if you couldn’t join us in person. We’re also highlighting exciting updates for our theater and what they mean for the community, which makes all of this possible.
All of these moments are a powerful reminder of what the North Fork Arts Center is all about: people coming together through film, performance, education, and community. We hope they inspire you to join us for future events and shared community moments.
NFAC’s anniversary is coming up in May. We opened our doors to the public in 2024, and with your support, we’ve grown into a home for arts and culture in Greenport, where people gather, learn, and connect. We’re celebrating with our third Brooklyn Ballet residency and the launch of our summer season. We’ve also been working hard on major improvements to make our theatre more accessible and comfortable for everyone. Everything we’re building is for this community. Thank you for being part of it.
Enjoy our updates,
Tony Spiridakis
Executive Director

A Building With Access for Everyone
One of the most important chapters in NFAC’s growth is already underway. We are in the middle of major building improvements that will make the theater more welcoming, accessible, and comfortable for everyone. This includes two projects shaped by community feedback: a new ADA-compliant elevator and a major HVAC upgrade.
Patrons told us we needed easier access to the upstairs theater and a more reliable climate experience inside the building, and we listened!
On May 15, we will celebrate the completion of this work with a ribbon-cutting ceremony that marks the unveiling of these upgrades and the reopening of our upstairs theater.
Read the full Suffolk Times article to learn more about the story behind these improvements.
You can be part of this major upgrade, too!
We still need community support to help cover costs for the HVAC project.

A Winter Full of Art, Gathering, and Community
On December 13 and 14, we welcomed audiences for A Christmas Carol, a haunting and heartfelt one-man performance by Scott H. Severance, that transformed the theater into a place of memory, reflection, and holiday spirit. It brought the power of live storytelling, gathering us to relive the timeless carol.

During the Second Annual Greenport Holiday Stroll on December 19, NFAC opened its doors for Holiday Cookies, Hot Cocoa, gallery viewing, and holiday film screenings. In partnership with The Greenport Village & Greenport BID, we reaffirmed how, through the arts and collaboration, our small businesses can help strengthen one another.

Later that month, the Long Island Baroque Ensemble returned for Holiday Revels, bringing singers, instrumentalists, and circus artists together for a festive celebration.

Education is at the heart of what we do

This winter, our 6-week Writing Workshop with Mira Johnson brought together 13 writers for a sold-out class focused on revision, experimentation, and creative growth. Writers across genres came together to strengthen their craft and share their voices.
Our winter workshops also expanded opportunities for people of various ages and interests during February and March, including an acting workshop led by Diogo Martins and a screenwriting workshop with Tony Spiridakis & Bill Finkelstein.
Finally, this Sunday, March 22nd, from 9 am-2 pm, we’ll have a free personal branding class for local high school students led by Phyllis & Joel Ehrlich, presented by Rocket Your Potential Career Coaching.
There are still a few spots available. Register here.
