Explore Ledge Lighthouse

Boat Tour & Visit Inside the Beacon

Explore one of the region’s favorite lighthouses. Land by boat at New London Ledge Light and tour inside the lighthouse — all the way up to the lantern. On the way out, see and learn the stories of several of our other area lighthouses.
We return as the sun sets.
This may be New London Maritime Society’s only tour to Ledge this summer, and it is the first since 2019 — so don’t miss it! We’re taking the Black Hawk out of Niantic. Tickets for the 3+-hour excursion are $75, $65 for NLMS members, & $50 for ages 7-18. Sign up at:
Update from the Ledge Light Foundation: Now that the Covid restrictions have been eased, the Ledge Light Foundation renovation and maintenance team has been working at warp speed to take advantage of the State Historic Preservation Office’s (SHPO) “Good To Great” grant. Recently, we had members of SHPO, tour LL and see first hand where we plan to use the grant monies.
We have designed an off grid solar power system and all components for the system are on the light and ready for installation. This system will restore power to the lighthouse. (The lens, maintained by the USCG, runs off solar panels.)
All materials for patching and painting the foundation (white) have been purchased. Both these projects are scheduled for August.
Over the past 2 years the deterioration to the primary foundation’s landing apron has been significant. Consequently, the remainder of the Good to Great grant monies will be spent repairing as much of this damage as possible in 2021. We are currently in the process of soliciting bids for this work from 3 concrete contractors.  Needless to say a busy summer for the LLF team.

We’re going Mondays, August 2 and 30 — taking the ferry, seeing the shows, stopping for lunch, then tooling around the island. Limited to 9 guests per trip. Sign up at:
