Before the tornado hits the screen at Poquatuck Hall, come see another creative depiction of weather. Barbara Bloom’s exhibition, “The Weather,” on view now in the Old Point Schoolhouse until September 27th, reimagines seascape paintings from the OHS collection—sky and sea half-hidden, leaving only a glimpse of the drama or calm within. Accompanying these are gray-green-blue carpets, hovering above the floor, with raised-dot Braille texts, each with a different literary description of the weather. The exhibition accentuates the complexity of seeing… leaving much to the imagination.

Then join us for a FREE screening of Twister, the 1996 Hollywood blockbuster that puts you right in the eye of the storm. OHS presents two very different ways to reckon with the weather: quiet, contemplative, and partial, then loud, visceral, and total.

The North Fork has long been home to artists who have been inspired, rejuvenated, and motivated by the region’s sky, farmland, and surrounding waters. OHS is delighted that, in its role of as an important community hub, it is able to provide a platform for the outstanding artwork produced by our friends and neighbors.

For the fourth year in a row, the North Fork Art & Artists Exhibition & Sale will be held at the Old Point Schoolhouse and 50% of the purchase price will go to the artist and 50% will represent a contribution to OHS.

We look forward to seeing you at the Schoolhouse!

Village House

Explore wicker furniture, lost Oysterponds landmarks, vintage children’s vehicles, recent acquisitions, newly discovered portraits by local 18th-century artist Abraham G.D. Tuthill, and sculptor Robert Berks’ celebrated Mary McLeod Bethune Memorial.

Webb House

Come visit the new exhibition, When the War Came Home: Oysterponds & the American Revolution, featuring historic artifacts from Revolutionary War-era Oysterponds. Webb House is decorated and period-furnished as it was during its late-18th and 19th century heyday. A permanent Maritime Exhibition is on permanent display on the 2nd floor. The When the War Came Home: Oysterponds & the American Revolution exhibition is made possible in part through the generous support of the Robert David Lion Gardiner Foundation and its 250th Commemoration Grant for 2026. (Open on Saturdays & Sundays only.)

The Red Barn

The 19th century Red Barn, revitalized and repurposed as an exhibition space, is home to “The Red Barn Collection,” a permanent multi-media exhibition curated by John & Joyce Holzapfel, comprised of pictures, tools, equipment, and artifacts of Oysterponds storied farming and fishing legacy.

Our buildings and exhibitions are open Fridays 2-5pm, Saturdays 11am-5pm & Sundays 2-5pm. Staff may be available Monday thru Thursday to open the doors and give tours (if interested, please call the office at 631-323-2480 for more information). Please note that admission charge is free for OHS members and $10 per non-member adult.
