WATER MILL, NY 11/22/2021On Friday, December 3 at 6 pm, the Parrish Art Museum in partnership with the LGBT Network will present a screening of Visibility (2021, 30 minutes). The documentary presents intimate self-portraits of five LGBT elders in the Long Island LGBT community, and their journeys of self-discovery, alienation, pride, and the sea change of hope as they traversed through issues including the AIDS crisis, defining family, and marriage. The screening, in person at the Museum and available livestreamed, will be followed by a Q&A with the film participants. Advance ticket purchase with pre-event registration is required. The event is free with Museum admission and to members of the LGBT Network.

Produced by the LGBT Network and edited by Adrian Stivala (LGBT Network Program Coordinator, Education & Community Organizing) and Kerrie O’Neill LMSW (Chief Program Officer), Visibility features Michael Barcham, Georgie Hartman, Phil Hauser, Franz Jungi, and Eve Weinberg. All will participate in the live Q & A panel on zoom, moderated from the Museum’s theater by Stivala.

The LGBT Network is a leader in creating and implementing solutions addressing challenges faced by the LGBT community: bullying in the schools, discrimination and harassment, lack of community and socialization, disproportionate burden of HIV, unsafe workplaces, lack of housing and service options for LGBT older adults, and a lack of LGBT-affirming and welcoming community services. The realities of unsafe spaces and communities for LGBT people drive the organization’s efforts to continue our history of pioneering advocacy and social change.

This indoor event requires all attendees to show proof of their vaccination status or recent negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours. Medical-grade face masks must be worn at all times and will be provided to anyone who needs one. To expedite your check-in process, you may email proof of vaccine to healthfirst@parrishart.org  with the event title in your subject line.
