We have great news!

Last week, an anonymous donor stepped forward to become the first community hero to pledge $50,000 to this project. We are so grateful for this donor’s generosity and commitment to conservation!
————
The community has also continued to rally around this project, with an additional $15,000 in pledged donations coming in over the past week from donors in Mattituck, New Suffolk, and Southold.

But more heroes are urgently needed if this land is to be protected in perpetuity.

We are seeking an additional $630,000 by June 15th, so that we can present an offer to the seller before the anticipated subdivision approval in early July. This means that in the next 2 weeks, we need more community heroes to step forward and match this first $50,000 contribution.

*Pledges by 12 Heroes at $50,000 or 6 Heroes at $100,000*

Your pledge can be split into as many as 3 equal payments across 3 years, beginning in 2021. This allows us to count your full commitment in the offer we bring the seller, while enabling you to carefully spread your donations over several years. And remember, your pledge will only become a donation if the seller accepts our conservation offer.

This is the last undeveloped parcel on Deep Hole Creek, and once we lose the chance to preserve it, it is lost forever.

With only two weeks left to raise the necessary funds,

your support is URGENTLY needed!

Our path to protection is unique – bringing together the landowner, the Town of Southold, a conservation buyer, and community pledges, with the Trust playing a facilitation role. Together, we can protect this land forever – but only with your help!

Let’s make Conservation our reality (with only 1 buildable area):
Instead of Development, with 7 buildable lots:

It is only through the community’s strong voice that this potential project has come together, and inspired the Seller, Peconic Land Trust, and Southold Town to collaborate. This project will serve as a blueprint for future conservation – if we each give what we can.
