Native plants are an important component of today’s garden, but if you’re curious to learn more about their value to wildlife and how to source them locally, please join us for the first conversation in our 2026 lecture series. You’ll hear from local native plant specialists Matt Daly of North Fork Natives, Jim Glover of Glover Perennials, and Polly Weigand of L.I. Native Plant Initiative (LINPI). Our moderator is Alicia Whitaker, President of the Westhampton Garden Club. Refreshments and social hour will follow the conversation.

Starting Seeds at the Farm

| Join us for our annual seeding workshop and help the farm get a start for this year’s growing season! Meet at the greenhouse and enjoy this peaceful activity led by Farm Manager Madison Aldrich. You’ll plant a variety of seeds in the growing trays and learn about the importance of healthy soil and methods for making and using compost. All participants are invited to return on May 16th to help transplant the seedlings into the fields.

Early Spring Bird Walk

The Granttham Preserve’s woodland trail, undisturbed meadow and Long Island Sound frontage offer the perfect habitat to view a variety of birds. Please join us for this walk led by naturalist Mary Laura Lamont. You may see red tailed hawks, Northern harriers and other birds of prey as well as early migrants such as phoebes, kinglets, and more. Bring binoculars, water bottle and wear weather-appropriate attire. Program in partnership with Hallock State Park Preserve.
$5/person suggested donation. Space is limited, reservations required. Rain cancels.
