Celebrating Earth Day
From Dancing Flowers to Serenading Birds
Earth Day is more than just a date on the calendar—it’s an invitation to come together and honor our planet, deepen our connection to the natural world, and take meaningful action. This year, our celebrations stretched from the bustle of the Upper East Side in New York City to the birdsong of the East End, bringing together a new generation of conservationists, families, and community members in thoughtful and memorable ways.
We kicked off Earth Day on April 22 with a spirited evening in New York City—an elegant soirée celebrating the future of conservation and engaging the next generation of land stewards.
A few days later, during Earth Day weekend, the celebration continued out east at the Quogue Wildlife Refuge, where the day took on a hands-on, educational spirit. Families and visitors of all ages rolled up their sleeves to dig into the soil, plant flower and vegetable seeds, and learn about the joys—and importance—of nurturing something of their own.
Simultaneously, at the Peconic Land Trust’s public garden in Bridgehampton—Bridge Gardens—creativity took flight. In partnership with The Shine Studio, families gathered to paint birdhouses in celebration of local and migratory birds, transforming simple wooden structures into colorful decorations for our feathered friends.
From the energy of the city to the serenity of budding gardens, our Earth Day celebrations reflected the many ways people connect with the land—and with one another. Whether through celebration, conversation, education, or creativity, each moment contributed to a larger movement grounded in stewardship, community, and hope—a movement that will no doubt sustain us in the months ahead.
