As 2025 draws to a close, I am filled with gratitude for all you have helped make possible since Peconic Land Trust was founded in 1983. Together, we have conserved more than 14,000 acres—protecting working farms, fragile shorelines, woodlands, and sacred lands that define the character and vitality of the East End and Long Island beyond.
Your support allows us to act when conservation opportunities arise—from farmland and wetlands in Southold and Riverhead, to coastal ponds in East Hampton, to woodlands, shoreline, and historic properties across Shelter Island, Brookhaven, and Southampton. In the face of mounting development pressure, your generosity helps ensure these irreplaceable places are protected forever.
Gifts to our Annual Fund also sustain the stewardship of the lands we have already conserved, monitoring and enforcing conservation restrictions, restoring habitats, managing invasive species, supporting local food access, and partnering with Indigenous communities to protect culturally significant sites.
As you consider your year-end giving, I hope you will renew your support of our Annual Fund. Your contribution helps translate opportunity into action and ensures that future generations inherit the same clean water, open space, and working landscapes we cherish today.
Thank you for standing with us and for all you do to protect the land that connects and sustains our community. I wish you and yours a safe, healthy, and happy New Year.
With gratitude,
John v.H. Halsey
President, Peconic Land Trust
