FOCUS: Lee and Me

Ruth Appelhof, Executive Director Emerita, Guild Hall of East Hampton, in conversation with Pollock-Krasner House director Helen A. Harrison
Book cover
Ruth will give us a preview of her very personal memoir, inspired by her 1974 summer with Lee Krasner in East Hampton. Her book opens a window into the artist’s private world and illuminates the remarkable work she produced for over six decades.

A major survey of Krasner’s career is on view through September 1 at the Barbican Art Gallery in London.

Ruth Appelhof earned her Ph.D. from Syracuse University and has directed museums across the country. She received two Pollock-Krasner Foundation grants for scholarly research for Lee and Me.

Five years in development, a feature-length documentary on the artist Charles Pollock, the eldest of the five Pollock brothers, and his youngest brother, Jackson, is in the final stages of production. The story is grounded in the rich trove of family correspondence held by the Morgan Library in New York City and the Charles Pollock Archives in Paris, where the artist spent the last seventeen years of his life.
“Pollock & Pollock” is produced and directed by Isabelle Rèbre. For more information, and to contribute to the project, click here. Text is in French and English.
