Pollock and Krasner’s stools return to the studio

The Pollock-Krasner studio display has recently been enhanced by two stools used by the artists, on loan to the museum from a private collector in Switzerland, courtesy of Pace Gallery and Douglas Baxter.
The stool on the left is visible in photographs taken in the barn studio in 1950, one of which shows Pollock sitting on it. The one on the right was used by Krasner in her bedroom studio in the house and later in the barn studio, where photographs from the 1960s show it covered with spillover from her energetic gestural paintings.
We are grateful to Alexander Brown and Nancy Rattenbury of Pace Gallery for facilitating the loan of these singular artifacts.

Two new website videos

Two interpretive videos have been added to our website:
Overview,” shot by Olga Goworek with music by Jeff Beal from the score of Ed Harris’ Oscar-winning movie, “Pollock,” offers a compact 2-minute introduction to the historic site and some of its highlights, using drone footage to show the property in its community context.
Jackson Pollock and Jazz” draws parallels between Pollock’s improvisational technique and jazz music, which the video’s writers, Camila Medina and James Bauer, describe as analogous to action painting: “The artist makes energy visible, while jazz makes time audible.”
