“Picturing Loss: Bereavement and Art”

on April 29

————
Thursday, April 29 from 4 – 5 p.m.
Free on Zoom
————
How do artists express grief? Explore how world renowned artists Lee Krasner, Frida Kahlo, Pablo Picasso, and others express loss in art. Guided by education coordinator Joyce Raimondo, discover how Lee Krasner expressed herself in painting following the untimely death of her husband, Jackson Pollock. Tour the barn studio where Pollock and Krasner made their abstract expressionist art.
————
Following the presentation and tour, participants are invited to share their own art that expresses bereavement. This special workshop is inspired, in part, by Joyce’s loss of her brother as a teenager and the lifelong consolation art has provided.
————
Lee Krasner, Prophesy, 1956. Oil on canvas. Private collection.
