Alexander Calder: Art of the Mobile Workshop

Tuesday, October 24, 2:00pm – 3:15pm EDT

Discover the mobiles of Alexander Calder — suspended forms that move with the flow of air. Then work along side Joyce Raimondo to create your own mobile. Have supplies on hand: hanger, sticks, or other item from which to suspend objects, wire or string, materials to hang from your mobile such as paper cut outs, cardboard shapes, shells, or recycled objects. Tools: scissors, or wire cutters if needed.

Celebrate Lee Krasner’s Birthday

Wednesday, October 25, 2:00pm – 3:00pm EDT

Lee was born on October 27, 1908. Celebrate the occasion with a live virtual tour of the current exhibition, “Lee Krasner: Portrait in Green,” on view in the Pollock-Krasner House. Also tour the barn studio where the canvas was painted, and where she and Jackson painted their abstract expressionist masterpieces.

The s ession is designed to spark creativity in an open, supportive forum.

How can a circle, square or a triangle convey an emotion? Explore how simple shapes

communicate ideas and feelings in abstract art. Following, create an abstract work

using bold shapes. Have a surface for your picture, and assorted colored papers,

scissors, glue and paint supplies on hand.
