We are pleased to announce that Joseph Lloyd Manor is now an affiliate of the American Writers Museum (AWM) in recognition of Jupiter Hammon’s significant literary achievements! AWM’s Affiliate network includes more than 70 homes across the country dedicated to preserving and celebrating American authors and inspiring the future of American writing.
April is Membership Renewal Time!
Here are just a few of the projects your membership will help us to realize in the near future:

Jupiter Hammon Project Phase II: This next phase will expand upon the themes that emerged during Phase I by conducting stakeholder meetings and interactive workshops to further explore ways to reinterpret our Joseph Lloyd Manor House.

The Art of Edward Lange: A new publication initiative that begins with a survey of all extant work by the 19th-century genre painter Edward Lange. Immediate outcomes from this initial reconnaissance phase will be a publicly accessible digital database and virtual exhibition of the artist’s Long Island work.

The 2021 List of Endangered Historic Places: A signature program, our endangered places list helps nascent local preservation efforts get off the ground through a formalized nomination process. Successful nominators become preservation partners who receive free prioritized technical assistance and advocacy support.

Members receive free admission to our historic house museums and exhibition gallery, discounts on books, free or discounted admission to special events, educational programs and more. Visit our membership page for more details about member benefits.
