Coming Later This Month:
The Art of Edward Lange Website Launch, Pop-up Exhibition
& Scavenger Hunt Event
—–

————

Preservation Long Island has been working on a project to compile all known Long Island artworks by Edward Lange (1846-1912), a landscape painter who worked in and around Huntington, New York during the 1870s and 1880s. Lange sketched and painted town centers, local businesses, and private residences.

Later this month, The Art of Edward Lange Project’s digital database will go live and Preservation Long Island’s gallery will feature a pop-up exhibition of Lange’s artwork. Nearly thirty works by the artist, held in the collection of Preservation Long Island, create a kaleidoscopic window into late-nineteenth-century Long Island landscapes.

Preservation Long Island, along with the Town of Huntington Historic Partnership, will invite the public to retrace Lange’s steps by participating in a scavenger hunt that will take players to sites in Huntington where the artist once stood. Stops will include local museums where several Lange paintings can be viewed in person! Event details coming soon to our website!
