The Horseshoe Crab Connection
(Virtual Program) Wednesday, May 5, 5:00 – 6:00 PM

Join John T. Tanacredi, PhD Professor of Earth and Environmental Studies and Director of Molloy College Center for Environmental Research and Coastal Oceans Monitoring, for a Zoom program about these fascinating living fossils.  Horseshoe Crabs provide from their blue blood an endotoxin detecting chemical, LAL, which has been used in every hospital around the world and is now even more important as an aid to combating the Covid-19 pandemic.

Painting in the Pollinator Garden
Wednesdays, May 12 & 19, 3:00 – 5:00 PM
Join us in the beautiful garden and learn some watercolor techniques so that you can create your own painting to take home. Beginners are welcome, dress to be outside.  This program is for adults and teens ages 13 & up. $35.00 per person, includes all supplies. Payment due at time of registration as space is limited.

Celebrate World Turtle Day
Saturday, May 22, 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM

Meet a variety of live turtles and tortoises during QWR’s Annual World Turtle Day Celebration. Learn all about Long Island’s turtles through a short presentation; then meet some turtles while you learn about ways that you can help local species. A program for adults and families.  Bring a blanket to sit on; reservations required as there is limited space.  $5.00 per person.

Full Moon Night Hike
Thursday, May 27th, 8:00 PM- 9:30 PM

Join us for an evening hike through the forest up to North Pond as we look and listen for nocturnal creatures, and enjoy some night vision activities under the light of the moon.  Reservations required 24 hours prior, as space is limited.  A program for adults and families with children over 9.  $10.00 for members, $20.00 for non-members.

Earth Yoga Outside
Wednesdays at 9:00 AM

Join Yoga Instructor Amy Hess for a one-hour class. Yoga will be held in a large, outdoor space on woodchips, near the pond, weather permitting. Please bring a sheet/blanket and your yoga mat. Consider sunscreen/repellent. $15 per class. Pre-register and pre-pay as space is limited.
