Pondside Painting

Wednesdays, September 15, 22, & 29th, 3:00 to 5:00 pm

Join us in alongside Old Ice Pond and learn some watercolor techniques so that you can create your own painting to take home. Beginners are welcome, dress to be outside.  This program is for adults and teens ages 13 & up. $35.00 per person, includes all supplies. Payment due at time of registration as space is limited.

Autumn Equinox Sunset Hike

Wednesday, September 22nd, 6:30 to 8:00 pm

Celebrate the first day of fall with an evening hike through the forest to North Pond as we look and listen for nocturnal creatures, and enjoy some night vision activities.   Reservations required at least 24 hours in advance; payment required at time of reservation. A program for adults and families with children over 11.  $10.00 for members, $20.00 for non-members.

Private Foliage Paddle Day

Saturday, September 25th, 6:30 to 8:00 pm

Register for a time slot with your group of friends/family and enjoy exploring Old Ice Pond via Kayak or Canoe.  This paddle will be partially guided by a naturalist, with some time to free paddle. Observe the various species of freshwater fish, turtles, and birds which live in and around this 100+ year old pond that was originally created for ice harvesting for the Quogue Ice Company. Families must pre-register and pre pay. Single kayaks, double kayaks, and canoes will be determined prior to your arrival based on the individuals in the party.  $250.00 fee, includes up to 6 people. ($50 each additional person) Time slots: 10:00am – 11:30 am, 12:30pm- 2:00pm, 2:30 pm – 4:00 pm.

Author Talk & Book Signing
Saturday, September 25th at 11:00 am

Take a hike! Get outside and explore the Long Island Pine Barrens’ deepest secrets and more. James Daniels, young author of “The Must See Hiking Destinations of Long Island” and local high school student, will give a presentation of the best hikes on Long Island. The presentation will be complete with pictures, maps, and the best hiking information available. Books will be available for purchase with cash.
