NANCY REMKUS CHOSEN TO RECEIVE COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARD

The Sag Harbor Partnership is proud to announce that Nancy Remkus has  been selected as the recipient of the
10th Annual Community Service Award, honoring her  decades of heartfelt dedication, creativity, and service to the Sag Harbor community.

Each year, the Community Service Award recognizes outstanding service to Sag Harbor and its  residents. It celebrates the many helping hands that together make Sag Harbor the vibrant,  involved, and caring community it is today — a true reflection of the village’s spirit of  collaboration and generosity.

A lifelong Sag Harbor resident, Nancy has spent her life nurturing community through music,  education, and service. A retired Sag Harbor Elementary School teacher and registered Music  Therapist, she helped found the beloved Morning Program, a daily gathering that brought  students, staff, and families together in song and celebration. For over 25 years, she led the  school in music and unity, even penning its school song, “Side by Side, Hand in Hand.”

Beyond the classroom, Nancy has continued to touch lives through ministry, the arts, and  community leadership. An ordained Interfaith Minister, she has officiated weddings, memorials,  and blessings, and has served as a part-time pastor at Old Whalers’ Church, where she helped  organize countless community events, from the Interfaith Thanksgiving Service to Sag Harbor  History Day. Her love of music and storytelling has also inspired four albums of original songs  and a growing collection of children’s books that celebrate nature and spirit.

Nancy’s volunteer work spans generations and causes — from co-founding the Songwriter’s  Share Concert Series, to leading sing-alongs at the Sag Harbor/Bridgehampton Senior Center, to  supporting The Retreat, the Sag Harbor Historical Society, and numerous local benefit events.

In every endeavor, Nancy embodies the heart and harmony of Sag Harbor. Through her music,  her ministry, and her compassion, she has brought people together and helped our community  find its voice.

The Sag Harbor Partnership will present the Community Service Award to Nancy Remkus at a  private home on Thursday, December 4th from 5:30-7:30 p.m.
