BASTIENNE SCHMIDT

Multidisciplinary artist Bastienne Schmidt uses photography, painting, and mixed-media work to investigate how objects and images can carry the memory of time. Born in Germany, and raised in Greece and Italy, the New Yorker of 30 years was first inspired by the ancient and modern cultures she encountered in her travels. Bastienne has returned to SAC for East End Collected6 and our expanding Storefront Art Project!

Learn about Bastienne’s creative process during our East End Collected6 Illustrated Talk on Thursday, March 18 at 7 p.m.

NEW STOREFRONT ART PROJECT

Our Storefront Art Project is expanding! Miles Partington joins us with his new installation of Dublin Zoo, on view now at 46 Jobs Lane.  Crafted out of cardboard, common objects, and spray paint, the artist effectively repurposes a material that became abundant throughout the COVID-19 pandemic to draw attention to the humor, beauty, and complexity that exists in the animal kingdom.

Artists Bastienne Schmidt and Jeremy Dennis are scheduled to be installed in new storefronts later this month. Look for updates on Facebook and Instagram.
