FUNDRAISING KICK OFF

TO RAISE FUNDS TO RESTORE

SAG HARBOR FIREHOUSE MSUEUM

November 14, 2025

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Board of the Sag Harbor Partnership is pleased to host a fundraising kick-off event at the Firehouse Museum at 46 Church St., Sag Harbor, NY, on November 14, at 2PM. This event is open to the public.
The gathering will allow the public to take to have a look at this historic Firehouse Museum, originally built as a meeting house in 1833, prior to restoration. After signing a Stewardship Agreement with the Village for the fundraising and restoration of the museum, the SHP has completed a plan to restore the building with updated mechanical systems, ADA access, and exterior repair, keeping its footprint and details intact. The renovation will be led by Moises Cerdas of Moises A. Cerdas Builder, LLC. Restoration of museum exhibits will be executed by Lee Skolnick of Skolnick Architecture + Design Partnership, an award-winning designer of children’s museums. The current estimate is $1.2M for the repair and restoration of the building, and an additional $300,000 for the interior displays that will delight and educate the public, and especially children, about the Firehouse’s history and our Sag Harbor Volunteer Fire Department’s long history of resilience and courage. It will use and preserve all the wonderful old objects for which the museum had been known.
The Partnership is thrilled to be working with the Village, which owns the building and grounds, on this project. Board member Chris Kann and President/Host of the annual Toys Party charity toy drive in NYC, said “I am delighted to be involved with this project on behalf the of the Village. It will be a tremendous asset for families and children and will serve as a vibrant new cultural venue, complementing the many artistic and historical treasures that make Sag Harbor such a charming village.”
Karen Arrigoni, a Board member and architect whose practice emphasizes historic preservation, generously volunteered her services in the preparation of the preliminary scope of work and schematic plans. Reminiscing, she said “I have such fond memories of the museum from visiting with my young children nearly 20 years ago. To be able to help with its preservation and revival is tremendously gratifying.”
