Meet Gregory Singer.  You’ve never met anyone like him.  His father, Jacques Singer, was a world-renowned violinist who became one of the great orchestra conductors of the 20th Century, founder and music director of the Oregon Symphony.  Gregory landed in New York City at the age of 15 at Juilliard as a prodigy on the violin.  He and his twin sister Lori were the two youngest students ever admitted to Juilliard.  Lori was a prodigy on the cello but was also an actress and model.  She starred opposite Kevin Bacon in “Footloose” and also starred on the hit TV show “Fame” as a virtuoso cellist.

Gregory could have been a renowned violinist, touring with symphonies and making recordings but he followed a more eclectic path.  He went on international tour as featured violinist with the  rock band Emerson, Lake & Palmer.  He played for years as featured violinist in the orchestra pit for innumerable Broadway shows. He became a dealer in fine violins, including holding a Stradivarius in his rent-stabilized Upper West Side apartment. He even took time away from music to be an auxiliary police officer for the NYPD.  His love of music prompted him to tackle the impossible – he founded and became music director and conductor of his own symphony orchestra – The Manhattan Symphonie which, over the last decade, played acclaimed concerts around the world, especially in China, and played sold out concerts at New York’s prestigious Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center’s David Geffen Hall.

And now he brings a life-time of music and stories about music to Southampton

– a terrific way to kick off your Memorial Day!
