Anna Lise Jensen is showing 10 new works from her New Suns for New Seasons series, that  was first shown at Stand Gallery, Brooklyn, in 2024. She manipulates oil paint to create a  textured surface, and she made several of these new paintings on Far Pond in Southampton,  where she has spent time since 2006. In addition to creating her own work in Southampton,  she has also made Far Pond a hub for local and visiting artists, and this is her third year of  organizing the Personal Infra-Structure exhibition at Southampton Cultural Center.

Lester Johnson finished building his own house in Springs in 1955, and he stayed there with  his family during summers while teaching at Yale. His first studio in NYC, 1947, was a loft-share  with Larry Rivers. In 2006, the Johnson family moved to the village of Southampton and his  studio has remained intact since his death in 2010, managed by his daughter, Leslie Johnson.  While there is an overlap in Johnson’s work with abstract expressionism, he worked with  recognizable subject matter, a radical position to maintain within the dogma of the time as  prescribed by Clement Greenberg.
