The Better Man Distilling Co. is Long Island’s first urban craft distillery. The family-owned business is committed to creating premium spirits with high quality ingredients sourced locally. As a NYS Farm Distillery, their spirits are made with at least 75% NYS ingredients. From the grains, to botanicals, to barrels, they try to highlight the natural bounty of their home state as much as they can. Combining these special local ingredients, with their creative minds, and new age distilling techniques allows them to create spirits with great originality and character all their own.

Kelci and Chris met in 2015 in New Orleans and bonded over a shared love of plants. Looking to escape city life, they decided to move to Chris’s hometown of Shelter Island. They wanted to live in a tight-knit community and closer to nature.
So what did they do? They started Island Time Farm! They took over Jay and Marge Card’s decades-old farm at Card’s Cabins on Shelter Island. They cleared out the overgrown field in the fall of 2017 and began sowing vegetable and flower seeds the following spring. They reopened the farm stand on the property and joined the Havens’ Market. In 2019, they started Shelter Island’s first Flower CSA! In 2020, they expanded to design, build, and maintain home flower and vegetable gardens. They also do custom floral design, on-farm flower harvesting and design experiences, and garden consulting.

of The Shelter Island History Center every Saturday 9:00 am to 12:30 pm.
Admission is free.
