Shelter Island Historical Society: Havens Market Opens Saturday, May 27th

This will be Peter Miedema’s second season managing Havens’ Market. He was born and raised on a dairy farm in upstate New York. He graduated from SUNY New Paltz and earned his Master’s Degree at The College of St. Rose. Since 2007, Pete has been teaching history at the Shelter Island School, where he also coaches basketball, baseball and soccer. He is the Vice President of the Shelter Island Lions Club. When Pete is not at school, you can often find him at the gym or walking his beloved French bulldog, Adele!

Lynne Colligan is excited to be managing the Market for the second season as well! She has been teaching high school English at the Shelter Island School for 15 years. Lynne was born and raised in Rhode Island, and majored in English at the University of Rhode Island. She completed her Master’s Degree at Fairfield University. Lynne loves spending time with her family, reading, traveling, and taking long walks on the Island.
