Oscar the Oyster Returns for
“Oysters ‘R’ Here” on September 27

He’s back!
Oscar the Oyster returns to the Shelter Island History Museum on Saturday, September 27 for our “Oysters ‘R’ Here” celebration. The festivities, which take place from 4-7pm, feature beer, wine, bites, live music, and of course, all-you-can-eat oysters.
You’ll also get to meet Oscar, once the mascot of the Shelter Island Oyster Company, which was a thriving business on the island until the 1950’s. They cultivated, shucked and shipped their products to markets as far away as Boston. Oscar the Oyster, symbolized some of the best oysters on the East End of Long Island.
Tickets for “Oysters ‘R’ Here” are available at the SIHM, the Havens Farmers’ Market from 9am to 12:30pm on Saturdays, and online anytime at
