outdoor film

TONIGHT – Thursday, June 10 @ 7 PM

The film LIVING SOIL tells the story of farmers, scientists, and policymakers working to incorporate agricultural practices to benefit soil health for years to come. Our soils support 95% of all food production, and by 2060, our soils will be asked to give us as much food as we have consumed in the last 500 years. They filter our water. They are one of our most cost-effective reservoirs for sequestering carbon. They are our foundation for biodiversity. It’s time we changed everything we thought we knew about soil. Let’s make this the century of living soil.

The evening will begin with a panel discussion featuring Dr. Deborah Aller, Layton Guenther, Jason Hansana Cofield, Dan Heston, and Lauren Ruiz, moderated by Alexandra Talty.

These programs are free, but registration is required. Please arrive 15 minutes early to set up your beach chair or blanket.

talks + tasting

Sunday, June 13 @ 6 PM

Join us for an evening celebrating our local waterways and learning about community oyster growing and the commercial aquaculture industry, featuring several esteemed panelists from our partner organizations. This event features important discussions on clean water, septic and aquaculture, and oyster farming. An oyster tasting will take place on our lawn, as well as a short film program highlighting CCE Marine’s aquaculture initiatives. We’re excited to be joined by Cornell Cooperative Extension Marine Program, Group for the East End, Peconic Bay Keeper, and local oyster growers. Discussions will be moderated by Alexandra Talty and Chris Pickerell.

Please note: This is a free program, however should you wish to participate in our OYSTER & WINE TASTING, tickets are available for sale at southamptonartscenter.org/talks. Proceeds from ticket sales will support CCE Marine and future EARTH programming. Quantity is limited. A special thank you to Conscience Point Shellfish, Southold Bay Oysters, and Borghese Vineyard.

Energized, excited, and ready to inspire… it’s a new day at SAC. Our team, website, exhibitions, and programming made headlines recently in a great article written by Kitty Merrill for The Southampton Press. We’re advancing our mission of community building through the arts.

We want to hear from you! Shoot us an email, give us a call, and of course, visit us in our galleries and share what you’d like to see more of at SAC. We endeavor to be responsive, mindful, and most of all, fun. Get in touch.

Please note that due to a private event, SAC’s galleries will be open on Friday, June 11 from 3 to 5 p.m. We will be open for normal hours on Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday from 12 to 5 p.m. We’ll see you soon at SAC!
